Home Call for Abstracts
Abstract Submission Deadline: April 26, 2010 WMIC 2010 will embrace all aspects of molecular imaging, and—except for the first day’s Educational Workshops—the program will be constructed almost entirely on the strength of submitted abstracts. Become a participant in this uniquely broad and truly global congress by submitting an abstract of your current research, which will be peer-reviewed and considered for inclusion in the program as an oral or poster presentation. Additionally, all accepted abstracts will be published in the special proceedings issue of Molecular Imaging and Biology, the official journal of the WMIC, AMI, SMI, and ESMI. Guidelines for Abstract Composition and Submission - DATA VALIDATION: Validation is a critical part of the scientific process. An important aspect of the abstract review and scoring will be the evaluation of steps taken to validate the results presented. You are strongly encouraged to include this material in your abstract.
- COMMERCIAL EMPLOYEE LIMITATIONS: Recent, more stringent CME rules have stated that employees of commercial interests may not present during approved CME sessions if the content of their presentations relates to their employers’ business lines and/or products. WMIC values the input of commercial researchers, so we propose three courses of action which would allow them have their work presented:
(a) Select an academic partner/co-author to make the presentation; or (b) Present as a poster if the abstract demonstrates compelling research (commercial employees may present posters, as no CME credit will be offered in poster sessions); or (c) Depending on submission outcomes, WMIC 2010 may hold a special non-accredited oral session for commercial researchers who are unable to have an academic co-author present the work. The first option is preferred. - LOGGING IN: To login to the Abstract Submission System, visit Abstract Central.
- CHARACTER LIMIT: There is a limit of 2600 characters for the text of your submission. The character count includes spaces. You will be advised of your character count usage throughout the submission process as you save and move to the next step. Title, authors, and institutions will not be counted. Tables will count 35 characters per row. Images will count a maximum of 560 characters.
- TITLE AND BODY: The title should be entered in mixed case.
- DISCLOSURES: Each author on your abstract must submit a personal disclosure. Abstracts will be reviewed without completed disclosures, but will not be assigned to a session if ALL authors have not disclosed by May 10, 2010. Note: When you identify your co-authors during the submission process, you will need to provide their email addresses. Upon submission, an automated email will be sent to them, directing them to the submission site, so they can complete their disclosures.
- TABLES AND IMAGES: You may add up to one table and one image to your submission. Tables and images will appear at the end of your abstract, both on the proof and for publication. Neither tables nor images can be placed within the text of the submission. Tables will count 35 characters per row.
- Be aware that your image will most likely be displayed in black and white when published.
- The final printed width of an image is approximately 3 inches. The image displayed on screen will be similar to the print size. All text within the image should be large enough so that it is readable when the image is printed or viewed on screen.
- Images should be between 300 and 600 dpi.
- Images will count toward the character count. An image will count a maximum of 560 characters depending on the size of the image.
- Color images should be RGB only.
- If the image file you upload is not of sufficient quality to be printed, Abstract Central Tech Support will contact you.
- EMBARGO POLICY: Abstracts bodies, images, and tables will be unavailable until August 25, when complete data will be made available for review. Prior to that time only abstract titles and (co)author information will be available.
- TECHNICAL SUPPORT: If you have any difficulty with the submission process, please email ScholarOne Technical Support at
